Maple Leaf Award 2006

AIM

To stimulate managers working in the field of purchasing, materials management and logistics to write professional articles on purchasing and materials management to the benefit of IFPSM and its members.

History
Looking for ways and means to increase information and publications about professional subjects for circulation by member associations and institutes, the Council accepted during its meeting in Venice in 1977 a Canadian proposal to start an annual competition in order to stimulate such learned papers. The best is to be awarded a plaque from PMAC and to receive CHF 5.000.00 from the Federation. As PMAC offered to institute such an award the Council agreed to mention this competition: The Maple Leaf Award competition. Regulations were made and accepted. The competition started in 1978. The first subject, chosen by the Council was "The involvement of purchasing in international trade". Due to the language-barrier it appeared difficult for the assessors to compare the contributions for this competition and still conform to the set regulations. Therefore, in 1982 a revision was made and after approval by the EC it was brought for decision to the Council Meeting in Dublin 1983, where it was approve. Hope
It is the hope of IFPSM that learned papers awarded in the Maple Leaf Award competition will get world wide attention in professional areas and reflect the ideas and principles of the IFPSM.
